MINISTER’S MESSAGE FROM REV. SUE MILLERBORN
MINISTER’S MESSAGE
Love Is!
“The fundamental qualities of spiritual life
are to love, nourish, nurture, and heal.” --Maya Tiwari
This is my final message to you as your Senior Minister. It begins with love. Because that’s what it has all been about over the years. Every single person is on a journey of self-discovery. We each find our way by following our intuitive nature towards the curiosities in the world that cause us to question. Love leads the way every time. We might not call it love when we are in the middle of a life situation that causes us distress and frustration, but it is right there, calling us out of the fray. ‘Love prevails ‘is a motto that has guided me through the toughest situations. Over time you might have heard me repeat myself in our Sunday messages. Some of my favorites I would enjoy with you are, “God is Good…All the Time!”. “Peace Is”. And Cher Matthews with her usual response, “Love is All There Is!” became a mantra for many of us! It makes a difference to surrender to such universal wisdoms.
We have landed our vision for the highest good of the Center. Who wouldn’t celebrate such a manifestation? I applaud the ministerial search committee and their patience with me as I would waffle at times and want to control the outcome. I applaud all of you for your positivity and enthusiasm in staying with the process. There is so much big love in me for our Center: for the people, for what it stands for, for what we have all journeyed through together. It felt like it would break me every time I would officiate a celebration of life for a member or friend who passed on. Yet, love lifted us all through those sad times. We grew closer. We grew stronger. Equally, I have enjoyed the honor of officiating weddings of many and a few baby blessings along the way. All the while I have supported our mission statement ‘to empower people to live spiritually fulfilling lives’. I feel fiercely protective of our legacy in Shasta County. Though we have had many changes over the years, it has always been important to me that we honor the shoulders we stand upon. Think about how much love, devotion, and resources we have sowed into our beloved spiritual home over the decades. We are truly reaping the abundant Good. And there will be more good manifesting.
Rev. Lisa Carson brings a worldwide view to our Center. She is heart-centered and loyal to spiritual truth and the teachings of Ernest Holmes. Her kindness leads the way. She has fresh ideas and is eager to dedicate her time in ministry with us. It is a calling. A calling of Love. Rev. Lisa has also welcomed me to continue to be in service to the Center which says a lot about her big heart. I stand by her with full confidence that we have made the highest and best decision for our Center to thrive. Now I don’t have to say a hard goodbye which was a struggle I have tried to find the words for. And then there is Charlie, my love. This man walked me through it all and I have no words to express how deep our relationship is. Thank you all for lifting me up to more than I thought I could ever be. And I am still here….
With abundant love and gratitude to all, Rev. Sue MillerBorn
